Singing Performance:

Amazing intro, great show, great choreography, I do believe she doesn’t have the greatest vocals.

This was good, but I don’t think it’d be enough to win this music week.

Very original, they are simply the best at what they do good choice.

Very natural, however I don’t believe this deserves to win this competition.

Nice performance, the quality wasn’t the best but they’re dancing was great.

Blocked for USA? I had to go and look for this exact video but using another link.  Anyway, this was great! Wow, great latin flavor.

You decided to change your video for one that was posted already, bad choice.  This was in the rules of the week.

Singing Performance:

Found this performance entertaining but that’s it, I didn’t think it was a full singer performance (specially when the others started singing).

Got it right this time Dashon. That was amazing.

Although this was incredible impressive, I do feel they overdid the tricks and lifts, some weren’t needed, they could’ve used more time dancing than in the air.

Singing – “Where Have You Been” by Rihanna

Score: 8 (This was a good performance, but the singing was a bit off-key and with the lighting, it was difficult to see the drummers at the beginning)

Dancing – Cyrus and Comfort on SYTYCD

Score: 9.5 (Terrific choreography and great footwork, and Cyfort were totally in-sync with each other)

Tim

Singing – “Angel” by Jackie Evancho

Score: 9.5 (This song made me feel totally depressed, but this performance was absolutely beautiful. My only criticism is that, while I love Jackie Evancho, I also love a bit of range in the performance, and Jackie constantly belts out high notes. I just like a little bit of vocal range in the performances.)

Dancing – Alex and Twitch on SYTYCD

Score: 10 (Tim, if you were trying to pick the perfect SYTYCD routine to earn a 10 from me, you did it. I have both the routine and the song (SYTYCD’s version) on my iPhone, and this is probably my favorite routine from them. I hate showing bias towards a performance, but the dance is just so damn amazing.)

Priya

Singing – “How Great Thou Art” by Carrie Underwood & Vince Gill

Score: 10 (Absolutely beautiful and emotional performance, and a great guitar solo from Vince Gill.)

Dancing – Poreotix at ElecTRONica

Score: 9.5 (There has been a lot of “Cinema” in these performances! Great dance performance, and I loved watching Poreotix on ABDC. My only complaint is that, like on ABDC, they did a lot of isolations, and that’s keeping me from giving it a 10)

Alex

Singing – “Locked Out of Heaven” by Bruno Mars

Score: 9 (Love this song! The only issue is that I gave 9.5’s and 10’s to performances that I just went “wow” too. While this is a great song, I wasn’t wowed by this version of it)

Dancing – The Crew (Philippines) Dance Routine

Score: 9 (Great footwork and I loved the “moonwalk” part, but I felt that the overall choreography is not that original.)

Arjon

Singing – vitas- opera2 live

Score: 9 (Well…that was different. On a more serious note, the notes that guy hit were astounding. His singing was terrific, even though I have no clue what he was saying, but I just felt a little perplexed by the performance, and it may have been with the hooded violinists or the weird facial gestures. Great singing though.)

Dancing – Tron Dance by Wrecking Orchestra

Score: 9 (While I think that these blacklight routines are great, similar to Team iLuminate or Fighting Gravity, the reason I can’t give this a 10 is because it is more of a special effects show than a dance routine.)

Valerie

Singing – “She Wolf” by Shakira

Score: 6.5 (The main issue that I have with this performance is that there is notable lip-syncing going on. While I am a fan of Shakira’s early music, I wasn’t a fan of the choreography here, and the fact that she did lipsync some of the performance, which was definitely noticeable in the second half, warrants just a 6.5. Sorry.)

Dancing – Shawn and Derek on DWTS

Score: 9.5 (I did watch the All-Stars season (Love you, Sabrina!) and this was one of my favorite performances of the season. It showed that Shawn had great footwork and technique, which I wasn’t sure of in her original season. Great performance and it packed a lot of power!)

Giorgio

Singing – “Euphoria” by Loreen

Score: 9 (I actually really liked this song, and I’ve never heard of it before! The fact that she is able to hit the notes perfectly while maintaining her difficult choreography is quite a talent. Not a “wow” song, but a great song nevertheless.)

Dancing – Robert Muraine on SYTYCD

Score: 9.5 (While I’m usually never a fan of grossout contortionist acts on dancing or talent shows, this guy is great in that he is using contortion for dancing sake rather than just doing contortion just to show off. This routine was incredibly original and complex and creative, and I loved it.)

David

Singing – Mark Anthony and J. Lo on American Idol

Score: 8 (Once again, J. Lo has to ruin everything she does. If this video was solely Mark Anthony singing, it would have gotten a much better score. However, I have to base this on the whole performance, and when J. Lo gets on stage and does no singing and takes all the attention away from the terrific singer, I have to deduct points. This is a singing round, and J. Lo takes away from the great singing.)

Dancing – Jabbawockeez at Hip Hop International 2012

Score: 10 (This is the only dance routine that I wish I could give over a 10. This routine was imaginative, creative, epic, impactful, choreographed beautifully, and altogether, f***ing perfect.)

Singing – Neil Patrick Harris’ 2011 Tony Awards Number

Score: 9 (Such a funny number and I love watching it again! While I can’t give it a 10 because it’s more comedy than music, it is still a fun, enjoyable number.)

Dancing – Cyrus and Comfort on SYTYCD

Score: 9.5 (Another terrific and imaginative Jabbawockeez performance that only would have benefitted more from the comedy factor that was in David’s Jabbawockeez routine. Other than that, terrific job.)

Dashon

Singing – “My Heart Will Go On” by Carly Rose Sonenclar

Score: 9.5 (Wonderful performance that just has some slight pitch issues)

Dancing – Emotional, passionate dance

Score: 9 (It is exactly how it is described. It’s beautiful and moving, and the tricks are terrific, but like Alex’s, the choreography is not that original.)

JEAN CLAUDE:

Dave : Song: Feel like this wasn’t Rihanna’s best performance. Great choreography though and her voice was good . My Score: 8

Dance: It was a good dance, but compared to what I’ve seen in SYTYCD before, this was just good. My Score: 7.5

Tim: Song: It’s actually pretty hard to critique a 10 year old who sings like an angel, but it was a really great performance. I still feel you played it safe, but it does deserve a good score, but I felt that the whole song was too predictable. My Score: 9 J

Dance: Great performance, really fun to watch and enjoyed every second of it. Really good choice, I’m glad I got to watch it J My Score: 9.5

Priya : Song: It was a good performance, the only critique I have is that the background music overshadowed  Carrie’s voice in the beginning of the song. The 2^ndhalf part was really good and improved your score a lot. I liked the guitar solo. Overall a good performance.  My Score: 9 J

Dance: Felt that the moves performed by that crew were okay, but didn’t see anything that made me speechless or made me like it. My Score: 6

Alex : Song: I didn’t quite like the lightning and the set up, but regarding his voice and the way he performed it was great. My Score: 8.5

Dance: Really good choice, by far one of the coolest group dances I’ve ever seen. My Score: 10 J

Arjon : Song: I honestly didn’t like it, the orchestra did an okay job, but it didn’t blow me away. When the guy hit the high notes, it made it really irritable in my opinion. My Score: 6.5

Dance: I’ve seen this video before and I really like it. Really great choice, always fun to watch. My Score: 9.5 J

Valerie : Song: GREAT CHOICE! Shakira is a Goddess!  I liked the lighting and stage a lot. Her choreography was sexy. I enjoyed every second of it. My Score: 10!!!! J

Dance: AS A LATIN DANCER MYSELF I MUST SAY THAT I WISH I COULD LIFT AND DO ALL THAT TO THE GIRL I DANCE WITH.  THAT VIDEO DESERVES A 100! But I can only give you a maximum of 10, so there you go! J

Giorgio : Song: I’ve watched this before and I really liked her, She did deserve to win. My score: 9.5 J

Dance: I’ve never seen something like that before in my entire life. It was CREEPY, SICK AND HILARIOUS!  My Score: 10! (It deserves way higher than that though J )

David : Song : He is one of my favorite latin singers and by far one of the greatest. Watched this performance already and it’s by far the best shit I’ve ever seen on American Idol + Jlo’s ass. MY SCORE: 10!!!!!!!!! J GREAT CHOICE!

Dance: Really cool, liked the flips. It was a really great performance and deserves a perfect score. My Score: 10 J

Deylan : Song:  It was funny but not the kind of video I was looking forward to watching. My Score: 6

Dance: AMAZING, Liked everything about it!!! Score 10!! J

Dashon : Song:  Carly Rose is just amazing, that’s my favorite song of her btw. Score: 10!! J (It deserves a 100 though)

Dance: Wow, that was really cool, you can tell they spent long hours practicing those moves. Score: 10! :)
